Reusable Snack Bag Round Up

I’m constantly examining what areas of my family’s life we can improve upon. I've recently been looking at our family’s plastic bag consumption and want to find ways to reduce and eventually eliminate the amount of plastic we’re using. So, to kick start to the new year, we’re saying goodbye to plastic snack bags (last year I got rid of all our plastic Tupperware and replaced them with Oxo glass sets).

With four kids under eight, we take a lot of snacks out of the house with us, and I am eager to find a reusable and biodegradable alternative to plastic baggies. I’ve partnered with a few of my favorite reusable snack bag brands and wanted to share them with you here! The best part is they’re all non-toxic and machine washable. Oh, and their capabilities aren’t just limited to holding food - you can use these puppies to hold beauty products, art supplies, electronics, travel items and more!

First up is LunchSkins - I’ve actually been using these for over ten years after first seeing them written up in Real Simple. I love the bold, modern prints and durable Velcro closures. They are dishwasher safe and come in a few different size options. LunchSkins also sells a resealable paper sandwich bag which could be a great disposable alternative if you’re worried you can’t say goodbye to plastic just yet.

Next on my list are the female-owned company, Stasher Bags - made of a unique translucent, non-toxic silicone. You can microwave, bake AND freeze these bags. Genius! They come in a bunch of sizes and I love that you can see right through them. I’m particularly excited to use them to store all of our puzzles!

Third brand up is Fluf Bags which feature an organic cotton exterior with bold, modern graphics and a pop of color on the inner, wipeable lining. These have a Velcro closure and I love the little spot on the back dedicated to personalization (because my kids’ things are destined to end up in the lost and found).

My next pick are the Itzy Ritzy ‘Snack Happens’ bags which come in some super fun allover prints with zip tops. They have a water-resistant lining perfect for messier contents. I love that the company was founded by a mom of three and they carry everything a stylish mama needs from diaper bags to nursing covers.

Rounding out the assortment are the Planet Wise sandwich bags. These water-resistant, toxic-free bags are made in the US and feature a locking zipper design which prevents leaks. They also have bags that feature a velcro closure and can be opened all the way up so you can use them as an eating surface. Love it!
